Fear is a natural emotion we all feel; it can be limiting and at the same time helpful often, it protects us from danger, but also holds us back from experiencing life’s opportunities, as simple as it sounds. The firm grip of fear loosens only when you begin to learn to manage it.
Can one really conquer it?
If you do not learn to manage (your portion) of fear, (laughs!) You won’t move from that spot you are! I have always been a person who isn’t (very) afraid. I would say I am a risk-taker (is that a word?) lol. Sometimes I take some calculated risks (sometimes, I fall right on my face) laughs but, really, what have I got to lose?
The media has made being a Muslim a fearful thing, and I would tell you with 100% honesty that it wasn’t until I became a Muslim, that I began to understand the purpose of life itself, I learned how to manage myself and the people whom God has placed in my life, and I began to experience peace. The peace that comes with living with purpose, I sometimes wish it were something I can describe. Unfortunately, the naysayers are the ones who are unwilling to do a thing about their own lives; instead would keep looking for those to pull along with them.
A lot of times, when people are told that, Islam is a religion of peace, this expression often comes with that “bombastic side eye”,(laughs) if you have ever met people who understand Islam, its ideologies, the principles and guidelines, those who strive to attain “the balance”, those people are the most amazing people you would ever come across in your life, forget what the media says (they are there to push narratives) ignore the bad images, until you experience Islam yourself. I am attesting to that, with all confidence and sincerity, if only you can sincerely look inwardly and ignore the media frenzy and the ignorant, and most importantly, keep an open mind.
As they say, salvation is a personal journey. The Qur’an as well admonishes us that "we are responsible for our own selves. This means that the guidelines and the blueprints have already been laid down for us, and it is our individual responsibility to follow them, no excuses! At the end of the day, we will all give our accounts individually! Science has been trying to refute the claim that there is a God. Inasmuch as science is (still) trying, paradoxically, it, science, keeps pointing us towards the direction of that same God they are trying so hard to refute! How amazing is that!
I ask you again, what have you got to lose?
