Al-Qur’an 3:84: "Say (Allah commanding the Prophet Mohammed (saw) that we believe in Allah (God) and in what has been revealed to us (The Qur’an) and in what was revealed to Ibrahim (Abraham) (his scripture, his story), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Yaqoob, and the tribes (the 12 tribes) and in what was given to Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus Christ) and the prophets from their lord (meaning all the other prophets). We make no distinction between any of them, and to him we submit.
Another verse says it like this: "The messenger (Mohammed saw) believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and so do the believers (and ANYONE who believes with him.)All of them in God (one God), His angels (All the angels, as there are no Muslims angels or Christian angels) all of them, His books (all the scriptures) and his messengers (all of them) we make no distinction between any of his messengers". (Al-Qur’an 2:285.)
Here is another interesting verse, this says: “Those who believe in God and his messengers and do not discriminate between them- shall receive their reward. (Al Qur’an 4: 152).
Technically, as believers (Muslims or Christians, alike) it is morally wrong to claim superiority over one prophet or another, (at least, Islamically wrong.)
Yet, many of us do just that!
Let me share with you another interesting verse (I remember when I first came across this verse, many years ago, I felt troubled, yes, because, I felt like, why would Allah say....? (may Allah forgive me) what exactly would set me apart from these people (who are not Muslims), because as a Muslim, I felt like I was doing more (silly me), those were the thoughts on my immature mind at the time, these was many years ago!!) (may Allah forgive me.)
The verse reads: verily, those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Serbians, whoever, believes in Allah and the last day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, and on them shall be no fear.( Al- Qur'an 2:62.)
However, this was the verse that answered (my) question at the time, (the one my immature mind was disturbed about. lol) and I want to strongly believe that, this is parts of our tests as Muslims, the verse (referred to the Prophet directly and as well as us): so if you are in doubt, (O Mohammed saw) about what has been revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the scriptures before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your lord, so never be among the doubters. (Al-Qur’an 10:94.)
which means that if at any point we doubt the authenticity of what has been revealed to us, we should ask (look into) the older scriptures, for confirmation, just so our doubts could be cleared.
This verse I believe is one of the most controversial verses for a lot of Muslims because here the Quran encourages us to ask the people before us, those whom the scripture were given to before the advent of the last (The Qur’an) however, which one?
The Bible? (New testaments or the old testament-parts of the Torah)?
Which variant of the Bible?
The protestant bible which has 66 books?
0r The Roman catholic of 73 books? or The Coptic version of 75 books?
The Charismatic of version of 76 book? Or The Orthodox version of 86 books? The KJV? NIV? Goodnews Bible? etc.
Which one?
This is exactly the reason why a lot of Muslim often ignore and reject this verse because really, which?
But why?
According to history, the compilation of the Bible was.....
Well, the inevitable happened.
Another revelation was sent to mankind to clear all doubt and re-establish, re-affirm the former!
